How To Get Rid Of Fine Lines Under Eyes

We may earn commission from links on this page, but we only recommend products we love. Promise. You can read full disclosure here.

Today I will be talking about something that many women struggle with and sadly there are not enough or should I say accurate solutions that actually work. And that topic is how to fix fine lines under eyes.

As someone who has struggled with fine lines under the eyes, I can confidently say this is one of the most annoying skin concerns to treat.

Not only can they make you look older and less refreshed, but they also have a way of making your concealer crease five minutes after you apply it and completely RUIN YOUR MAKEUP!!! I’m sorry for crashing out, guys. The flashbacks are triggering.

The worst part is there is not much information online that actually helps.

Take it from someone who has spent her nights searching Goggle, social media and even AI looking for how to fix under eye bags. It is always a bunch of home remedies that doesn’t work and guess what, I tried them all ( well that was how I discovered they don’t work).

I can’t even keep up with them at this point: turmeric powder and olive oil, cold pressed coconut oil, honey and lemon juice, you name it.

Oh, don’t even get me started on the numerous serums that promised to erase fine lines but delivered little to no results.

If you saw my skincare stash, you would think I owned an eye serum store. I can’t even bring myself to throw them away because they were so expensive.

Sometimes I mix them with my body lotion for extra hydration (well they got to be useful somehow because my money can’t go to waste just like that).

Eventually, I got tired of wasting time and money, so I decided to see a licensed dermatologist.

Here is the thing, I actually had to see three different dermatologists before I found the one who truly helped me.

I have been seeing her for the past three years, and she is absolutely amazing, guys. She explained what was really causing my under-eye concerns, walked me through the available treatment options, and recommended products that actually made a difference.

Recently, I told her I was planning to share everything I learned with you all. She laughed and said, “Girl, you’re taking my money away!” But anything for my besties, right?

So today I will be sharing with you dermatologist approved tips on how to get rid of fine lines that actually work.

Oh lest I forget, I will also be sharing some skincare products that got the job done, I’m talking two weeks in and results were phenomenal.

Anyways, let’s get right into it.

1. Use A Broad-Spectrum SPF 30–50 Sunscreen Every Single Day

For almost every skin problem out there, one of the first pieces of advice you will get is to wear sunscreen. And trust me, it is even more important than you think, especially when it comes to how to get rid of fine lines under eyes.

You see, the skin under your eyes is the thinnest and most delicate skin on your body, making it especially vulnerable to UV damage.

Over time, UV rays break down collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for keeping your skin firm, smooth, and youthful. As these proteins break down, fine lines become more noticeable, and new ones form more easily.

Which is why you have to, scratch that, you NEED to wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 sunscreen every single day. I don’t care if it is raining, cloudy, or the sun is playing hide-and-seek. Wear. Your. Sunscreen.

It helps protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays, reducing the sun damage that speeds up the formation of fine lines.

Listen to me. It doesn’t matter if you are using the best eye serum or splurging on expensive skincare treatments. Girl, if you are not wearing sunscreen alongside whatever you are using for your fine lines, you are wasting your time and money.

Now, I’m going to be honest with you. Sunscreen doesn’t actually erase existing fine lines, but it does prevent them from getting worse and helps slow the formation of new ones.

My favorite sunscreen is La Roche-Posay Anthelios Tinted Mineral Light Fluid SPF 50. It is lightweight, doesn’t leave a white cast, gives me the prettiest soft glow, and blends into the skin beautifully. Also, it is hydrating, which is always a bonus. I absolutely love it.

2. Invest In A Retinal Eye Treatment

You should not be sleeping on a retinal eye treatment.

It is one of the well-researched anti-aging ingredients out there, and for good reason.

Retinal is a type of retinoid that works by speeding up skin cell turnover and stimulating collagen production. More collagen means firmer, smoother skin, which helps reduce the appearance of fine lines over time.

Now, I’m not telling you to go slather your regular face retinoid all over your under-eye area. Remember, the skin there is much thinner and more delicate, so it is best to use a retinoid product that is specifically formulated for the eyes, like Medik8 Crystal Retinal Eye Ceramide Cream.

Start by using it two to three nights a week, then gradually increase the frequency as your skin adjusts. And please, for the second time, don’t forget your sunscreen during the day. Retinals can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so the two go hand in hand.

Retinal eye creams also work wonders for dark circles too.

3.  Apply Growth Factor Eye Serum

Now, I know this might be a little expensive, but trust me, it is worth every single dollar: a growth factor eye serum.

You see, growth factors are proteins that help support your skin’s natural repair process.

They are like little messengers that tell your skin, “Hey, let’s repair some of this damage.”

They have a unique way of  improving skin texture, support collagen production, and soften the appearance of fine lines over time.

One of my favorite options is the Plated Eye Serum.

This eye serum is the real deal. It has significantly reduced the appearance of my fine lines.

And it is not just for fine lines alone, because it also helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles, crepey skin, puffiness, and dark circles. It is simply amazing and one of the best investments I have ever made.

Use it consistently, and I mean consistently, because I know y’all love a magic fix, but skincare doesn’t work like that, honey.

I prefer using it at night because that is when your skin naturally goes into repair mode. While you sleep, your skin is busy repairing itself from the day’s environmental stressors, making nighttime the perfect opportunity to apply products that support skin renewal.

Just apply it to clean, dry skin as the last step of your night eye-care routine and let it do its thing while you get your beauty sleep.

4.  Use A Volufiline Serum

Ever since I started using a Volufiline serum, I can’t imagine my skincare routine without it.

If you are looking for How to get rid of fine lines, this is one ingredient that is definitely worth checking out. Trust me, you will thank me later.

Volufiline is designed to improve the appearance of volume in the skin. Around the under eye area, it helps the skin look plumper, making fine lines appear less noticeable.

It also improves the appearance of hollow undereyes by giving the area a fuller, more refreshed look.

My dermatologist recommended The Ordinary Volufiline Serum, and honestly, it worked wonders. Within three weeks, I noticed that my fine lines looked less noticeable, my under eyes appeared fuller, and my skin texture looked smoother.

5. Get Microneedling With PRF (or PRP)

If I told you that the only way to get rid of fine lines was by buying skincare products, I would be lying.

Sometimes, skincare alone isn’t enough. If you are searching for how to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles that just won’t budge, you may need professional skin treatments, especially microneedling with PRF or PRP.

Microneedling works by creating tiny, controlled micro-injuries in the skin. Don’t panic, it sounds scarier than it actually is.

These tiny punctures trigger your skin’s natural healing response, encouraging it to produce more collagen and elastin. More collagen means firmer, smoother skin and softer-looking fine lines over time.

When you combine microneedling with PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) or PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), the treatment can become even more effective.

Both PRF and PRP are made from a small sample of your own blood and are packed with platelets and growth factors that help support your skin’s healing and rejuvenation.

Personally, I would choose PRF over PRP because the results last longer.

Now, here is my disclaimer: this is not a one-time treatment. You will likely need multiple sessions, spaced according to your dermatologist’s recommendations, to achieve the best results.

And for my DIY girlies, please sit this one out. This is not a treatment you should try at home. It should only be performed by a qualified dermatologist or licensed medical professional.

6) Use Peptide Eye Patches

Another tip I’m going to share with you on how to get rid of fine lines under eyes is investing in peptide eye patches.

If there is one thing fine lines love, it is dry skin. It makes them look even more noticeable, which is why I swear by peptide eye patches.

They give your under eyes an instant boost of hydration, helping the skin look plumper, smoother, and more refreshed.

I love love love these collagen peptide eye patches from biodance, they are the best in the market.

Now let me put you on to one of my favorite makeup hacks for those of you struggling with concealer creasing.

After you have finished your skincare routine, pop on a pair of peptide eye patches for about 15–20 minutes before you start your makeup. I usually do my eye makeup first while the patches are working their magic.

That way, you are not just sitting there waiting, or, if you are feeling a little chaotic, you can always pick a fight with your boyfriend for the culture.

By the time I take them off, my under eyes look smoother, feel hydrated, and are so much better prepped for concealer. Trust me, your makeup will thank you.

Another tip? Keep your eye patches in the fridge. Applying them cold feels incredibly soothing, helps reduce morning puffiness, and gives your under-eyes that fresh, well-rested look we all want.

7.  Practice Lymphatic Drainage Massage

If you are looking for how to get rid of eye lines around eyes, don’t underestimate the power of a quick morning lymphatic drainage massage.

It helps reduce morning puffiness by encouraging lymphatic drainage, making your under-eye area look more refreshed.

And when your under-eyes are less puffy and well-rested, those fine lines don’t stand out as much.

The key word here is gentle.

Don’t forget, the skin around your eyes is very delicate, so use light pressure and slowly glide your gua sha tool outward toward your temples. No aggressive scraping, please. It’s your skin, not a rug.

I love doing this in the morning, especially after keeping my gua sha in the fridge overnight. It feels so refreshing, makes my face look awake, and gives my under-eyes that “I definitely got eight hours of sleep” kind of vibe, even when I doom-scrolled on TikTok until 3 a.m. the night before.

8. Chilled Cucumber Slices Does Wonder For Fine Lines

I’m sure we have all seen those facials where people place cucumber slices over their eyes. And there is actually a reason for that that is beyond just aesthetics.

Cucumbers are made up of about 95% water, so they have a naturally cooling and hydrating effect on the skin. When you chill them in the fridge (or freeze them slightly, but don’t let them become rock solid).

They can soothe tired looking eyes, and make fine lines look less noticeable by giving the skin a boost of hydration.

I love using them at night after a long day or during my sunday reset routine. They are cool, refreshing, and they make me feel like I’m starring in one of those luxury spa commercials.

9. Sleep For 7–9 Hours Every Night

I can already feel the side-eyes you are giving me right now. I literally just confessed to doom-scrolling on TikTok until 3 a.m., and now I’m over here telling you to get 7–9 hours of sleep every night.

Well, we all have our moments. Besides, I don’t do it every night.

But seriously, nothing beats a good sleep routine when it comes to how to get rid of fine lines under eyes. While you are asleep, your skin goes into repair mode, working to restore itself from the day’s damage.

Getting enough quality sleep also helps reduce morning puffiness and keeps your skin looking healthier and more refreshed.

So yes, consider this your sign to put your phone down a little earlier tonight. Your under eyes will thank you for it.

10. Stay Hydrated

Hydration is super duper important. And no, I’m not talking about juices disguised as “flavoured water.” I mean actual water.

When your body is dehydrated, your skin can look dull, dry, and tired. It can also make fine lines under your eyes appear more noticeable.

Drinking enough water helps your skin stay hydrated from the inside out, supporting its overall health and giving it a plumper, healthier appearance.

But staying well hydrated is one of those simple habits that supports everything else you are doing, from your skincare routine to your professional treatments.

So grab that water bottle and start sipping like your life depends on it. Actually, your skin does.
