Do you ever wake up on a bright, beautiful morning after getting a full night’s sleep?
Your body feels refreshed, you have no aches or pains, and you are excited to start the day.
You walk over to the mirror.
Then, bam.
You notice those droopy bags sitting under your eyes.
You blink, lean in a little closer, and hope you are imagining things. Unfortunately, you are not.
Just like that, your beautiful morning is ruined.
That was exactly how I felt six months ago when I discovered I had eye bags. I’m sure many of you who struggle with them have felt something similar.
The truth is, eye bags are one of the most frustrating skincare concerns to deal with. They can make you look older, tired, and less refreshed than you actually feel, even when you have had a full night’s sleep.
And don’t even get me started on makeup.
Your foundation is flawless, your brows ATE, your lashes are lashing, and then your eye bags decide they want to be the main character.
Suddenly, your concealer starts creasing, your under-eyes look puffy, and all your hard work feels like it has gone to waste.
This is why I decided to create this article.
When I first started looking for how to get rid of eye bags, I tried every single home remedy I could find. Everything I came across on the internet.
One time, I even tried lemon juice and let’s just say the saxophones got louder the moment that lemon juice accidentally found its way into my eye.
Despite all those home remedies..
Nothing.
Then came the expensive eye creams that promised to erase my eye bags.
Still.
Nothing.
It wasn’t until I met with a dermatologist that I realized why.
She explained that many of the treatments trending online simply aren’t effective for the kind of eye bags most people are trying to get rid of. Some may give temporary results, while others won’t make any noticeable difference at all.
That conversation completely changed how I approached treating my under-eyes.
Instead of wasting money on products that overpromised and underdelivered, I started focusing on treatments that are actually backed by science and recommended by dermatologists.
So, if you are tired of trying random hacks and expensive creams that don’t live up to the hype, you’re in the right place.
In this article, I will walk you through on how to get rid of eye bags.
Let’s get started.

1. Start Lymphatic Drainage Massage

This is a simple tip on how to get rid of under eye bags.
Most times, those annoying eye bags staring back at you in the mirror are not because you suddenly aged overnight, but because of fluid buildup under your eyes. This can happen when your body holds onto extra fluid, especially around the delicate eye area.
Before you start applying every random serum or “miracle” ingredient you find online, try something much simpler: a gentle under-eye massage.
Using your gua sha tool, lightly press and sweep under your eyes to encourage the trapped fluid to drain. You can do this a few times a day, especially in the morning when puffiness is usually at its peak. You can also use a gua sha for this massage.
This technique may help reduce temporary puffiness, improve circulation, and make your under-eye area look less swollen.
Just remember to be gentle as the skin under your eyes is very delicate.
2. Invest Caffeine Eye Creams

Skincare products can also be a good option if you are looking for how to get rid of under eye bags.
Your under-eyes don’t always need a complicated 10-step routine. Sometimes they just need a little caffeine boost.
Caffeine is a powerful antioxidant, which means it helps protect the skin from damage and supports a healthier-looking appearance.
They can help narrow tiny blood vessels and reduce fluid build, thereby minimizing the appearance of eye bags.
My dermatologist recommended the Inkeylist Caffeine Eye Cream and it is AMAZING.
For the best results, apply a small amount under your eyes and gently tap it into your skin using your ring finger. It also works for dark circles too.
3. Limit Alcohol

Credit: hermandesty
Yes,we need to have a little sit-down for this one.
Especially “just one more drink” people.
The magaritas, bottomless mimosas, vodka, we might need to tone them down a little.
I know life can be stressful, and nobody is pretending it is easy. But your under-eyes are quietly keeping score, and trust me, they are not giving you grace.
There are proteins that are responsible for keeping your skin firm, smooth and youthful called collagen and elastin.
When you drink too much alcohol, they start breaking down those proteins. As collagen and elastin decrease, the skin under your eyes becomes thinner and looser, making eye bags appear even more noticeable.
Alcohol also dehydrates your body and can cause water retention, so you might wake up with puffier under-eyes than you bargained for.
So, if you would rather have people guessing you are 20 instead of asking if you have been paying taxes since 1998, it might be time to put the glasses down, honey.
4. Do Cold Compress For 5–10 minutes Everyday

Like I mentioned earlier, you don’t always need to empty your wallet buying every skincare product that promises to erase your eye bags overnight.
Sometimes, the simplest remedies are sitting right there in your kitchen or bathroom.
A cold compress is one of them.
If you are wondering how to get rid of eye bags in minutes, a cold compress is one of the quickest tricks you can try to temporarily reduce puffiness.
All you have to do is to dip a clean washcloth or face towel in cold water and place it over your eyes for about 5–10 minutes.
The cold helps narrow your blood vessels and reduce swelling, making those puffy under-eyes look a little less dramatic.
Personally, I love using a cold spoon. I pop one in the fridge for a few minutes and gently press it under my eyes for about 10 minutes. It has worked wonders for me. If you have a gel eye mask or an ice pack wrapped in a soft cloth, those work just as well.
Basically, find something nice and chilly, lightly press or glide the cold compress over the area.
5. Go For PRP Treatments With A Liscense Medical Professional

Now, if the cold spoon, fingertip massage, and caffeine eye creams aren’t giving you the results you are looking for, this is where the professional treatment enters the chat.
And no, I’m not talking about going under the knife. This is a cosmetic treatment called a PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) injection.
Here is how it works: a trained healthcare professional (No girl, this is not a DIY project) takes a small sample of your blood and spins it in a machine to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of your blood. That platelet-rich plasma is then carefully injected into the under-eye area.
So, what does that mean for your eye bags?
Over time, PRP can make the skin under your eyes thicker, firmer, and smoother. It can also soften fine lines and improve the appearance of eye bags.
This treatment right here is the truth. If you haven’t started PRP injections, you need to.
6. Radiofrequency Microneedling

I know the words needle and radiofrequency sound terrifying and are probably making you think, “Maybe I’ll just keep the eye bags.” But relax, you are not going to lose your eyes.
Radiofrequency microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that combines tiny needles (calm down) with radiofrequency energy, which gently heats the deeper layers of your skin (still not as scary as it sounds, I promise).
The tiny needles create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, and your body responds by kicking its natural healing process into gear. At the same time, the heat stimulates collagen production deep beneath the surface.
It results into a firmer, tighter skin under your eyes, smoother texture, and eye bags that may become less noticeable over time.
This is generally a treatment to consider if simpler remedies haven’t given you the results you are hoping for and you’re looking for something with longer-lasting effects.
7. Sleep With Your Head Slightly Elevated

One of the best tips I can give you on how to get rid of under eye bags, especially those annoying morning eye bags caused by fluid buildup, is to change how you sleep.
Believe it or not, the way you sleep can make a difference. When you sleep completely flat, fluid can collect around your eyes overnight, leaving you to wake up looking puffier than you did before you went to bed.
So, sleep with your head slightly elevated.
Try using an extra pillow or slightly raising the head of your bed. Keeping your head elevated helps prevent fluid from settling around your eyes while you sleep, so you are less likely to wake up with puffy under-eyes.
8. Wear Sunscreen Every Single Day

Let’s be honest. If you are putting together a skincare routine and treatments but sunscreen isn’t part of it, we need to have another chat.
One of the biggest reasons people develop skincare problems is skipping sunscreen. I know it doesn’t feel as exciting as that fancy serum you just bought, but trust me, it is doing a lot of the heavy lifting.
You see, the skin under your eyes is one of the thinnest and most delicate areas on your body, which means it is very vulnerable to damage from the sun’s UV rays, and just like the alcohol and smoking mentioned earlier, they weaken the proteins that keep your skin firm and smooth, making eye bags, fine lines, and wrinkles appear more noticeable.
So please, and I cannot stress this enough, wear your sunscreen, girl. Your eyes will thank you. It helps protect your skin, preserve your collagen, and keep those under-eyes looking healthier for much longer.
If you don’t know which sunscreen to get, try this La Roche-Posay Anthelios Tinted Mineral Light Fluid SPF 50, it is the best of the best.
9. Reduce Excess Salt Intake, Especially At Dinner

I want you to put right hand on your chest and repeat after me: I promise to eat for my health and not just for my taste buds.
Because baby, we need to take it easy with the salt.
This one is for my “I think it needs just a little bit more salt” girlies, or the people who keep adding salt until their ancestors tell them it’s enough.
We need to calm down with the sodium.
Eating too much salt can cause your body to hold onto extra water. And since puffiness under the eyes is often linked to fluid buildup, too much sodium, especially later in the day, can make you more likely to wake up with swollen-looking under-eyes.
So, you don’t have to completely ban salt from your life (we are not trying to make food taste like sadness), but keeping your intake balanced can help your body and your under-eyes.
Another way to cut back on excess salt is by limiting fast food, your McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, and the likes. Reduce how often you eat them.
Fast food restaurants aren’t cooking for your health, they are cooking for your taste buds, so you keep coming back for more. Let’s be real: this food is made to be addictive. It is a business.
When you cook more at home, you are in control. You decide how much salt goes in, what oil you use, and what actually ends up on your plate.
10. Add A Retinal Eye serum To Your Skincare Routine

Another tip on how to get rid of under eye bags is adding a retinal eye serum to your nighttime skincare routine.
Retinal is one of the most well-researched anti-aging ingredients out there, and there is a reason skincare lovers keep talking about it.
Retinol is a vitamin A derivative that helps stimulate collagen production, which can make the skin look firmer, smoother, and healthier over time.
Since the skin under your eyes can become thinner as you age, helping to strengthen and improve the skin can make those eye bags appear less noticeable.
If you want to know how to look pretty or level up your looks, add a retinol to your skincare routine. It works wonders.
11. Do An EMFace Procedure

Credit: thefashionbugblog
EMFACE is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses synchronized radiofrequency and electromagnetic energy to stimulate facial muscles and encourage collagen production.
And we already know the collagen story by now; more collagen can help your skin look firmer, smoother, and more youthful.
The treatment works by improving facial muscle tone and skin firmness, which may help reduce the appearance of mild sagging and under-eye concerns over time.
As someone who has been getting this treatment for a while now, I can’t imagine my skincare routine without it. Not only has it helped reduce the appearance of my eye bags and fine lines, but it has also improved my overall skin texture and tone.
And that’s all for this post.
