Today’s topic is really special to me because it is something every woman, including myself, has dealt with or is currently dealing with.

And that topic is: How to look pretty.

As women, we naturally want to look like the best version of ourselves. I honestly don’t think I have ever met a woman who doesn’t want to feel beautiful or confident in her own skin.

However, there is one thing most of us struggle with, and that is insecurities.

Relax, ladies. This is a judgement-free zone.

We all have things about ourselves we don’t like and want to change, and that doesn’t make us terrible or ungrateful. It makes us human.

There is a big push around loving yourself exactly the way you are, and yes, that is important. But let’s be honest: sometimes we don’t want to hear the “you don’t need to change anything” sermon.

In my opinion, one powerful way to practice self-love is self-improvement. Not because of society or men, but because of what we want, our happiness, confidence and how we feel when we look in the mirror.

That is why I will never judge personal choices, whether it is skincare, fitness, style changes, or even surgery, so long as it is done safely and for you.

So today, we are going to talk about our insecurities and explore ways to work on them to feel prettier, and more confident.

These tips are tested, trusted, and backed by science.

So without further ado, let’s get right into it.

1. Face Acne

How to look pretty

Acne is one of the most common skin problems that almost every woman has struggled with at some point in her life. And the worst part is that acne is unavoidable.

It is like an unwanted guest that shows up uninvited and refuses to leave.

To get rid of active acne, one effective place to start is by adding benzoyl peroxide to your skincare routine.

This can be in the form of a cream or a face wash. Benzoyl peroxide commonly comes in two concentrations: 4% and 10%.

If you are just starting out, I strongly recommend using 4%. This helps reduce the risk of irritation and protects your skin barrier, while still getting the job done.

On the other hand, 10% is better for more severe acne and should only be used after your skin has already adjusted to the lower concentration.

Additionally, if you are looking for faster and more effective results, you can combine benzoyl peroxide and azelaic acid, but not in the same routine.

For example, you might use benzoyl peroxide on Monday and azelaic acid on Wednesday. This will help to minimize irritation while maximizing results.

Azelaic acid works by helping to kill acne causing bacteria. Moreover, it is excellent for reducing acne scars and evening out skin tone.

If you are looking for how to get rid of pimples fast, add these two ingredient to your skincare routine and thank me later

Also your diet matters a lot, I mean a lot. Check your triggers, could it be dairy? Nuts? Or some specific foods. Whatever it is, identify and stop them immediately.

For example, I noticed that most of my breakouts happened after consuming dairy. After cutting it out, I have not suffered a new breakout since.

2. Wrinkles And Fine Lines

Avoid over-exfoliating your face. If you have dry skin you need to invest in a super hydrating moisturizer; bonus points if it contains hyaluronic acid.

In fact, I would recommend adding a hyaluronic acid serum to your skincare routine regardless of your skin type. Trust me it makes a huge difference.

You see, sometimes the wrinkles or fine lines on your skin doesn’t mean you are aging, especially if you are in your 20s.

Oftentimes, it simply indicates that your skin is dehydrated and thirsty for hydration. Using a moisturizer and hyaluronic acid serum will help plump your skin and give it the moisture it needs.

Another tip I will give you on how to look pretty and get rid of wrinkles/ fine lines, is adding a peptide serum and retinol serum or cream.

This will help to smooth wrinkles and stimulate collagen production, and improve skin elasticity. And last but not the least: sunscreen, babes sunscreen. Never skip it.

3. Textured Skin

The next tip I’m going to share on How to look pretty and get rid of textured skin is exfoliation. Most of the time, the reason why our skin feels rough is due to a buildup of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin.

To address this, exfoliate your skin two times a week. However, avoid using physical scrubs on your face.

Instead, opt for chemical exfoliants such as AHAs and BHAs, which are gentler and more effective when used correctly.

Additionally, your skin type determines the type of chemical exfoliant you should use.

If you have oily or acne-prone skin, go for BHAs like salicylic acid, as they penetrate pores and help control excess oil.

On the other hand, if your skin is dry, opt for AHAs like glycolic acid, which work on the surface to improve texture and brightness.

When used properly, exfoliation helps smooth textured skin, making your complexion look clearer, and brighter, which is a major step in how to glow up. And that ladies, is how to look pretty without makeup.

4. Dark Under Eyes

how to look pretty

As someone who has struggled with dark under eyes, nothing annoys me more than complaining about them and hearing someone say, “Oh, just sleep more.” Girl, bye.

That being said, the power of sleep cannot be overemphasized. You need to get at least 6–8 hours of sleep every day. If you don’t, you are going to get dark under eyes; point, blank, period.

Now that we have gotten that out of the way, here is how to actually treat them.

Get yourself this eye cream that contains niacinamide, vitamin C, retinoids, or caffeine. These ingredients help reduce melanin production, boost circulation, and brighten the skin which reduces their appearance.

In addition, you must apply sunscreen around your eyes, regardless of whether your dark circles are genetic or not. UV exposure worsens this condition.

Trust me, using sunscreen daily is one of the best things you can do to treat and prevent dark under eyes.

If you want to know more about getting rid of dark under eyes, check out this article for more detailed explanation: How to get rid of dark circles under eyes (even after 8 hours of sleep)

5. Melasma

Do you have a dark upper lip that looks like a mustache, even though you have no hair there, and it just won’t go away no matter what you do? That condition is called melasma.

To treat melasma, you need to focus on skincare ingredients that are tyrosinase inhibitors. These help reduce excess melanin production. We are talking ingredients like kojic acid, tranexamic acid, and licorice root extract.

Another very important step and I cannot stress this enough is WEARING TINTED SUNSCREEN. Yes, I emphasized it for a reason. UV rays from the sun make melasma much worse, and tinted sunscreens contain iron oxides, which help block visible light, provide extra protection and fade melasma.

Wear your tinted sunscreen every single day without fail, even when you are indoors.

Also I’ve been using this viral product I found on tiktok for melasma.

In addition, try to avoid extreme heat, as heat can also trigger and worsen melasma. So if you are a sauna or hot yoga baddie, you will need to be extra careful.

Carrying a portable fan or cooling device can help keep your face cool when temperatures rise.

6. Uneven Skintone

First step on how to look pretty and evening out your skin tone is exfoliation. If you don’t get rid of those dead skin cells, your skin is going to look dull.

I recommend chemical exfoliants over physical ones. Why?

Because chemical exfoliants contain ingredients that brighten your skin while exfoliating it, kind of like a two-in-one package deal.

Think glycolic acid, alpha arbutin, lactic acid and so on. I also recommend adding kojic acid to your skincare routine. It could be in the form of a soap or cream, whatever works for you.

However, use it only three times a week.

Once you notice your skin is even, discontinue it and just maintain.

7. Facial Hair

Please avoid shaving.

It would make your facial hair grow thicker and faster. You are also at risk of aftershave bumps and infections.

Another problem with shaving is that, it just cuts the hair at the surface and doesn’t pull them from the roots. Instead, try waxing. I know it’s painful, but it is definitely worth it.

Eventually, the hair grows thinner and slower. For a long-term solution, consider laser hair removal, but ensure it is done by a licensed esthetician.

If you are dealing with hormonal issues like PCOS, you might have hirsutism. Try spearmint tea; it helps suppress male hormones that cause unwanted hair.

Now, just because you are using these ingredients doesn’t mean you should skip moisturizer. It is what seals the deal and prevents irritation.

8. Thin Lips

If you are looking for how to glow up on a budget and get fuller lips without fillers, try this hack.

Apply hyaluronic acid serum or cream twice a day, it draws water to the lip surface, causing swelling that makes lips fuller.

Seal it with Vaseline to lock in moisture, preventing dryness while making lips smoother and more voluptuous. For immediate results, consider this lip plumper.

9. Smile Lines

One main reason for smile lines is weakening facial muscles that sag over time, creating deeper creases.

Try this simple exercise to stimulate them: Stick your thumb in your mouth, reach up as far as you can, and press down gently on the muscle for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Do both sides properly, morning and night for 2-3 minutes, ideally during your skincare routine when your face is well moisturized. Add peptides and retinol to your routine for better results.

10. Jawline Definition

Girl, you need to start doing lymphatic drainage massages. I thought it was just a marketing gimmick to sell gua sha tools, until I tried it.

And honey, the jawline definition it gave me is out of this world.

This massage also got rid of my face fat and double chin. And the best part? You don’t need fancy tools, your hands work perfectly.

Here is a simple way to do it:

  • Wash your hands and dry your hands properly.
  • Apply a serum or face oil to your face to enable your hand to glide smoothly during the massage.
  • Place your fingers on the edge of your jaw, just below your ear.
  • Use your fingertips to massage in small circles, moving from the center of your face towards your ears.
  • Massage along the jawline, using light pressure, from the chin towards the ears.
  • Try to do this 3 times a week for 5-10 minutes.

11. Belly Fat / Lower Belly Pouch

How to look pretty

Credit: grow.witherin

Belly fat is the one of most stubborn problem women face, it really puts up a fight. Here are a few effective and realistic things you can do to get rid of stubborn belly fat

First, it is important to understand that you can’t spot-reduce fat. This means you can’t lose fat from just your belly alone. When you lose belly fat, expect to also lose fat in other parts of your body.

Secondly, go on a calorie deficit (1,200–1,500 calories daily). Use a scale to measure each meal or snack accurately. Try intermittent fasting as well (10:8, 16:8, or even 24-hour fasts, whatever suits you).

During your eating window, don’t overeat, practice portion control and aim for nutritious meals.

You don’t have to eat only salads or greens; You can still enjoy your favorite foods, just in moderation and smaller portions.

In addition, incorporating exercises such as planks, bicycle crunches, leg raises, reverse planks, weighted core and strength workouts.

These exercises can help strengthen your core, build abs and give you a flatter belly. They can also help you to get a small waist without losing your curves.

12. Weight Gain

How to look pretty: Weight Gain Edition.

When trying to gain weight, the worst thing to do yourself is by eating unhealthy fats. I’m talking about ice cream, chipotle bowls and burritos, burgers, fries, and that viral TikTok Japanese no-bake cheesecake: girl, no.

There is such a thing as healthy and unhealthy weight gain. Junk food leads to belly fat, which is definitely not what you want.

Instead, eat nuts, olive oil, protein-rich foods like eggs, meat, chicken breast, and turkey; fruits like mangoes, pineapples, avocados, and bananas (you can blend into smoothies); legumes like beans, chickpeas, and lentils; and carbs like rice, pasta, sweet potatoes, oats, and so on.

Aim for 8 hours of sleep everyday and also try to reduce your stress levels.

13. Back Fat

How to look pretty

Credit: emilylucyrajch

Just like I mentioned earlier, you need to be in a calorie deficit because you can’t choose where your body loses fat from.

Also, you should focus on doing back exercises such as cable rows, lat pulldowns, face pulls, barbell rows, single-arm dumbbell rows, and cable lat pullovers.

These workouts help strengthen and define your back muscles, creating a firmer, more sculpted, and sexier-looking back.

14. Fat Arms

Again, to lose weight, you need to be in a calorie deficit. When it comes to your diet, aim to eat more protein and fewer refined carbs.

This doesn’t mean cutting out carbs completely, your body still needs them for energy.

One hack my personal trainer shared with me, and honestly, it works really well, is eating most of my carbs earlier in the day, when my body can use them for energy.

Then, I focus more on protein later in the day. This approach helps support fat loss while still keeping my energy levels up.

You should train your arms two to three times a week. Focus on exercises like shoulder presses, bicep curls, lateral raises, and other upper-body movements.

If you are aiming for slimmer-looking arms, use lighter weights with proper form and higher repetitions. However, if you want your arms to look more toned and defined, use heavier weights.

15. Small Butt

how to look pretty without makeup

Credit: farjofitness

Glute exercises, babes, glute exercises. You want to build those butt muscles by challenging them so they break down and grow bigger over time.

Focus on exercises such as hip thrusts, Bulgarian split squats, cable kickbacks, hip abductions, sumo squats, and Romanian deadlifts (RDLs).

These movements directly target the glutes and help build size and shape when done consistently.

In addition, you need to be on a high-protein diet. Why? Because when you train, especially with heavier weights, you create tiny tears in your muscle fibers.

Protein, which is made up of amino acids (the building blocks of muscle), helps repair those fibers. As they repair, the muscles grow bigger and stronger, giving you a more lifted and bigger butt.

16. Saggy Boobs

Saggy boobs can’t be completely “fixed” with creams or bras, but one thing that genuinely helps is training your upper chest muscles.

The muscles underneath your breasts act like a natural support system. When they are weak, breasts tend to sit lower.

Exercises like push-ups, incline chest presses, and chest fly, done 2–3 times a week can strengthen this area and improve how your boobs sit on your chest, giving a subtle lifted appearance over time.

17. Cellulite

how to to look pretty

Credit: chloroblasts

Never skip leg day, you need to build more muscle to replace those fat tissues which in turn makes cellulite less noticeable.

Focus on exercises like Romanian deadlifts (RDLs), leg extensions, cable kickbacks, quad extensions, Bulgarian split squats, and goblet squats.

Cardio helps a lot, and I mean a lot. It doesn’t always have to be on a treadmill. You can take long walks, go for a jog, or run, anything that keeps you moving consistently.

When it comes to cellulite, you need to strengthen your skin itself, so it holds fat tissues better.

Incorporate skincare ingredients like peptides, vitamin C, and retinol to boost collagen production and improve skin elasticity.

18. Broad Shoulders

Avoid workouts such as overhead shoulder presses, lateral raises, wide-grip lat pulldowns, and front raises.

These exercises build the shoulder and upper-arm muscles, which can make your upper body appear wider.

However, it is important to understand that you cannot physically shrink your shoulders, as bone structure and genetics plays a major role. What you can do is create balance.

Focus more on lower-body exercises using heavier weights.

Building your glutes, hips, and legs helps shift attention downward, making your upper body look less noticeable. So, go heavier on lower body, lighter on upper body for better proportions.

19. Short Neck

Practice posture correcting exercises like chin tucks and upper back stretches. These exercises help realign the head and spine which can make your neck appear longer.

Secondly, styling is key.

Go for clothing that creates vertical lines; I’m talking about V-neck or open neck tops, pull back hairstyles and long vertical necklace.

Avoid high necklines and chokers because they visually shorten the neck.

20. Dark Underarms

Now I know this can be quite controversial, but you literally have to use strong pigment-reducing ingredients like kojic acid, hydroquinone and glycolic acid etc to fade stubborn underarm hyperpigmentation.

Yeah, I know, I know, but as someone who has struggled with dark underarms myself and has tried different methods, these were the only things that actually worked for me.

However you have to be very, very careful when using these ingredients.

Do not use them every day. Two to three times a week is fine.

Always follow up with a good moisturizer to reduce irritation.

Most importantly, listen to your skin. If you notice burning, stinging, or irritation, discontinue use and switch to a lower concentration or a gentler alternative.

For example, if your skin doesn’t tolerate hydroquinone, alpha arbutin is a safer option. Also if your roll-ons are making your armpits dark, stop using them immediately.

21. Dark Inner Thighs

One of the major causes of dark thighs is friction, so reduce it by keeping the area well-moisturized and sealed with a hydrating body cream or oil.

In summer, you can also use a dusting powder between the thighs.

To fade dark thighs, exfoliation is key, either with a scrub or, preferably, a chemical exfoliant like glycolic acid, which speeds up cell turnover and brightens the skin.

You can also use a kojic acid soap 2–3 times a week, leaving it on for five minutes before rinsing.

Finish with a brightening serum containing brightening agents like niacinamide, tranexamic acid, glutathione, or vitamin C. These reduce melanin production and help fade pigmentation.

This is a simple, effective way on How to look pretty and keep your thighs smooth and even-toned.

22. Hip Dips

how to look very pretty

Credit: alannahw.fitness

I’m going to hold your hands when I say this: you cannot completely get rid of hip dips. They are largely influenced by bone structure, fat distribution, and genetics.

However, what you can do is reduce the appearance of hip dips by building muscle in the right areas. This helps create the illusion of smoother, and more rounded hips.

Focus on exercises such as single-leg hip abductions, hip thrusts, step-ups, and glute bridges.

These movements target the glute muscles and can help fill out the hip area, making hip dips less noticeable over time.

23. Masculine Body Shape

If you have a masculine body built from the gym or genetics and want to know how to look pretty and more feminine, there are two things you need to do.

First, as a gym girlie, focus on high reps and low weight. For example, if you are doing lateral raises, aim for 10–15 reps with 5–7.5 kg dumbbells. Limit your upper-body workouts to one or two sessions per week, that’s it.

Second, try Pilates. Honey, the way Pilates reshapes your body is like sorcery: it makes you look longer, more snatched, and delicate instead of buff.

If you want to know more about achieving a feminine build, check out this article on 10 small waist exercises to sculpt an hourglass figure.

24. Stretch Marks

Uhmm, can you throw that Bio Oil in the trash for me?

Please and thank you. Because, it literally does nothing for stretch marks. Take it from someone who has gone through over 18 bottles with zero results.

What actually works is to combine a hyaluronic acid serum to hydrate and improve skin elasticity, followed by a retinol or prescription retinoid like tretinoin, which boosts collagen and gradually fades stretch marks over time.

It is Important to note that if you are pregnant, do not use retinoids.

For a DIY option, you can try shea butter and vitamin E.

Although, they take longer to show results, but with consistent use, they can gradually fade stretch marks. This is one of the easiest and most effective ways on how to look beautiful naturally.

25. Body Acne

how to look pretty without makeup

Credit: selflove_aida

Benzoyl peroxide is the GOAT of clearing body acne. You can get it in a cleanser, cream, or whatever form you prefer, just make sure the product contains benzoyl peroxide.

Like I mentioned earlier, start with 4% benzoyl peroxide to see if your skin can tolerate it. If your body acne is severe and your skin isn’t sensitive, you can go up to the maximum strength of 10%.

Trust me, it works like crazy.

Another thing you want to do is use a salicylic acid body wash to exfoliate. It helps remove excess sebum and dead skin cells, preventing further breakouts.

26. Strawberry Legs

Use a glycolic body wash or a body scrub to get rid of dead skin cells and reveal smooth, glowing skin.

Follow up with a retinol moisturizer three times a week, and don’t forget your regular hydrating moisturizer to protect your skin barrier.

Also, if you shave, always shave in the direction your hair grows; which means if your body hair grows downwards, you should shave downwards.

Pro tip: make sure your moisturizer contains urea to smoothen out those bumps.

Korean skincare products are very good at intensely moisturizing the skin, if you haven’t started using them, I highly recommend you do.

This is one of the best ways on how to look pretty and achieve a healthy and radiant skin.

27. Broken Edges

Avoid tight hairstyles that put too much pressure on your edges. I know they are some of the prettiest styles, but give your hair a break sometimes.

Try my homemade recipe that has my hair growing like crazy, it was passed down from my grandma.

Combine castor oil, rosemary leaves, olive oil, onions, and cloves and place the mixture on low heat so the herbs infuse properly.

Use it twice a day for fuller, healthier edges.

If you are not a fan of homemade solutions, you can also use Minoxidil to grow your edges.

No, you don’t have to use it forever, and your hair won’t fall out if you stop. However, if your hair loss is genetic, then yes, you may need to use Minoxidil indefinitely.

Hair supplements like this holy grail one will also be your best friend!

28. Dry Hair

Wash and deep condition your hair regularly and consistently. Look for conditioners with humectants like glycerin, aloe vera, and panthenol, as these ingredients pull moisture into your hair.

Finish by applying a leave-in conditioner to damp hair and seal in the moisture with a hair butter or oil.

Protect your cuticles by using protein treatments every 4–6 weeks, and choose silicone-based products in your deep conditioners or leave-ins to help strengthen your hair.

29. Flat Hair

how can I make myself prettier

Okay so, I got this tip from my hairstylist.

Grab a claw clip and use it to lift your front hair from the forehead and crown, taking it all the way up. Apply a dry shampoo or hairspray just above the scalp.

Then, put your blow dryer on full blast with cold air. Take off the claw clip and use your hands to fluff it out. And the volume you will get afterwards is immaculate.

Try this hack and let me know how it works.

30. No Hair Volume

Use a dry shampoo instead of hairspray to maintain volume and shape.

After applying it, use a hairdryer to remove the white cast. Then, with a round brush and an ionic hairdryer, lift the roots to create extra volume. This technique gives you voluminous roots and defined curls.

The night before styling, do an oil treatment, apply a texturizing spray, and put your hair into braids or a bun. Cover it with a bonnet until the next day. When you take it down, the volume you would get the next morning will be out of this world.

31. Thin Hair

First, keep your scalp clean, especially if you have thin and oily hair. Excess oil and product buildup can weigh your hair down, making it look flat.

To detoxify your scalp, use apple cider vinegar (mix 1 part ACV with 4 parts water) to gently cleanse and clarify it.

After cleansing your scalp, wash your hair with shampoo. Here is the real deal: If it doesn’t lather up properly, your scalp is still dirty, keep washing gently with shampoo until those rich bubbles form.

Now this is where most people get it all wrong, do not apply conditioner directly to your scalp, as this can weigh thin hair down. Instead, apply conditioner only to the mid-lengths and ends of your hair.

For my straight-hair girlies: stop using mousse and switch to a root spray instead. Mousse can weigh straight, thin hair down, making it look flatter and thinner.

Apply the root spray to damp hair, then blow-dry section by section, lifting at the roots for extra volume. And that’s how to look very pretty with a voluminous, luscious hair.

32. Spilt Ends

how to be pretty

Credit: kaykaywellness

The first and most important thing you need to do for your spilt ends, is to cut them off.

You see, once a hair splits, it cannot repair itself, and when left alone it can travel all the way up to the hair shaft and create even more breakage, frizz and thinning. This is the reason why you are hair growth seem stagnant, even when you are doing everything right.

After cutting them off, Invest in a silk or satin pillowcase or bonnet, because it reduces friction and prevents breakage from all the tossing and turning at night.

I recommend using coconut oil or an Ayurvedic oil as a pre-shampoo treatment on your ends to deeply moisturize and seal the hair cuticle. This helps prevent split ends, reduce frizz, and add shine.

And girl, you need to deep condition your hair, at this point, it needs all the moisture it can get.

Finally, follow up with a bond-repair hair mask or serum to help repair hair damage.

33. Slow Hair Growth

When it comes to how to look pretty, hair plays a crucial role. And if your hair grows slowly, you might want to take a pen and paper and jot down a few things from this post.

To increase hair growth, you need to promote blood circulation to your scalp, which in turn promotes hair growth.

There is no better way to do this than by massaging your scalp for at least 20 seconds every single day. You can use your hands or a scalp massager (only use a scalp massager while shampooing your hair).

Then, use my homemade hair growth recipe that I shared earlier, or Minoxidil, to help support hair growth.

34. Not Knowing Which Style Make You Look Feminine

how to be beautiful naturally

Credit: erikahausser

If you want to know how to look more feminine, start by wearing feminine colors like red, white, pink, pastels, black (yes, black can be feminine, more like dark feminine), cream, and other light shades.

Dress according to your body shape and choose classy, timeless pieces over trendy ones. Wear clothes that properly highlight your curves and flatter your body, and avoid ill-fitting outfits.

Accessories are key, they are the secret ingredient that takes an outfit from 0 to 100. Opt for delicate jewelry pieces to elevate your look.

For makeup, follow the bold-soft rule: if your eye makeup is bold, keep your lip color soft. Never go heavy on both the eyes and lips at the same time.

This is how to look pretty and elegant always.

35. Yellow Teeth

Add a small amount of baking soda to your toothpaste and brush for two minutes, uhm I hope we are all brushing our teeth for two minutes right? Okay, good.

After brushing, don’t rinse immediately. Spit it out and let the toothpaste sit on your teeth for a couple of minutes before rinsing.

Also, use a nano-hydroxyapatite toothpaste. Aside from helping to whiten and clean your teeth, it supports and strengthens your enamel.

If you are a coffee or tea lover, always rinse your mouth after drinking them, they have a superpower when it comes to staining your teeth.

36. Crooked Smile

@drdorisday I love at home hacks! Here is my trick to fix an uneven smile. Let me know if you try it👇 #unevensmile #skincarehacks ♬ Happy – Yojo Summer

Take your finger and place it at the edge of onse side of your nose, then gently pull upward. You are using your finger so you can feel the muscle engage.

Now do the same on the other side. This helps you identify which side of your face is weaker. Once you have figured that out, practice lifting the weaker side from the base of the nose.

With consistent practice over time, your smile will naturally become more even, and your lips will also appear more balanced and defined.

37. Bad Breath

Floss with the right dental floss regularly.

Removing those extra bits of food stuck between your teeth prevents them from decaying in your mouth and causing bad breath.

Another thing you want to do is use a tongue scraper and scrape your tongue properly, brushing alone can’t reach all the odor-causing bacteria and debris.

Take a cup of cold water and add a tablespoon of baking soda.

Swish and gargle the whole glass for about two minutes, then spit it out. The baking soda helps kill the bacteria.

If you want to go a step further, chew rosemary leaves for a fresh breath. Peppermint works well too, but I personally prefer rosemary.

38. Dry Lips

how to look good without makeup

Credit: kellybicklemd

Take a few drops of honey and mix it with a drop of olive oil, avocado oil, or jojoba oil, basically any oil you have (except cooking oil lol).

Use a Q-tip to apply the mixture to your lips and gently rub for a minute.

The honey helps draw moisture to your lips, while the oil locks it in. Without wiping off the honey and oil mixture, apply Aquaphor or Vaseline for extra hydration.

Do this three times a week, and your lips will be soft, and juicy in no time.

39. Gum Hyperpigmentation

Gum hyperpigmentation is completely normal, especially if you have black or brown skin.

However, if you still want to lighten your gums safely, laser treatment is currently the most effective method.

It removes excess melanin from the gum tissue, giving you a lighter and more even gum color.

40. Body Odor / Sweat Smell

Double cleanse with a bar soap and a body wash at night.

Use benzoyl peroxide on your armpits to reduce odor, and pair it with an antiperspirant to control excess sweating, especially during the summer.

Make sure your clothes are completely dry before putting them on, as damp clothing mixed with sweat can cause unpleasant odors.

Invest in floral body mists, body sprays, or signature perfumes to keep you smelling fresh.

To take things a step further, apply a scented dusting powder to your armpits and other sweaty areas before using perfume. This gives the scent a base to hold onto and lasts longer.

41. Intimate Area Odor

For vaginal odor and overall feminine hygiene, avoid douching and using scented products in your intimate area.

Wash your vulva (not inside) with water and unscented soap or a gentle intimate wash. Take probiotics, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice regularly to support intimate health.

After bathing, make sure to pat the area dry, as dampness can become a breeding ground for bacteria.

Wear cotton panties always and sleep in your birthday suit to allow your intimate area to breathe.

If you experience recurring infections, consult your gynecologist.

42. Scalp Smell

Cleanse and clarify your scalp with apple cider vinegar. Invest in a scalp scrub to remove excess buildup of oil and dirt that can cause odor.

Wash your hair regularly, but not so often that it dries out your scalp.

For all my women of color who do braids or other protective styles, make sure to wash your hair after taking them out, especially if you have had them for a while.

Also, ensure your hair is fully air-dried or blow-dried before putting it back into a bun or covering it with a bonnet.

If you have dandruff or a flaky scalp, use shampoos, conditioners, or treatments that contain menthol to soothe and refresh your scalp.

43. Feet Odor

Go to any drugstore and get Betadine. Mix a small amount with water and soak your feet for 30 seconds then rinse off with warm water.

Next, take a pinch of baking soda and sprinkle it into your shoes. Trust me, this helps keep both your feet and shoes from smelling.

Betadine works by killing odor-causing bacteria, while baking soda helps create an environment that discourages bacterial growth.

Note: Don’t soak for too long, and don’t do this daily, 1–2 times a week is enough. Avoid using Betadine if you have an iodine allergy or open cuts.

44. Don’t Feel Cute Or Feminine

How to look pretty

Credit: moreyfaith

Being pretty or cute is more than just looks, it is a feeling. So if you don’t feel cute or feminine enough, start by doing things that make you feel pretty.

I’m talking about getting your nails done, your hair done, investing in quality skincare products, and so on.

If you want to lose weight, go ahead and lose it. Don’t like how skinny you look and want to gain weight? Increase your calories.

If your makeup doesn’t look good, follow beauty creators on YouTube and learn how to start doing makeup.

Every day, you should do something to improve yourself.

Start affirmations: Stand up, look in the mirror in your birthday suit, and tell yourself you are the prettiest girl in the world.

It may sound delusional, and yes, I need you to be delusional.

Anytime you are doing your skincare or makeup, always tell yourself you are the most gorgeous and sexiest goddess that ever graced the surface of the earth.

Always hype yourself up. The more you say it, the more your brain begins to believe it, and the way you see yourself starts to change.

45. Feeling Basic

If you have ever asked yourself how can I make myself prettier and not basic, start by understanding that feeling pretty isn’t just about looks, it is about intention and confidence.

Start by creating a signature. This could be your scent, your hairstyle, your makeup style, or even the way you carry yourself.

Having something that feels uniquely you instantly makes you stand out.

Focus on one upgrade at a time. Instead of changing everything at once, work on one area, could be skincare, posture, wardrobe fit, or self-care habits, and be consistent.

Stop chasing every trend and develop your own taste. Constantly copying others can make you feel basic. Try things, keep what feels right for you, and let the rest go.

46. Feeling Invisible

If you often feel invisible, start by upgrading how you show up. This doesn’t mean changing who you are, it means enhancing what you already have.

Pay attention to your skin, hair, and makeup, and always look clean and well put together. Dress in a way that flatters your body type so your clothes work for you, not against you.

Next, invest in a good-quality perfume. Smelling good is a powerful attention-grabber.

People are naturally drawn to pleasant scents, and honestly, a great perfume is one of the easiest conversation starters. It leaves a lasting impression long after you have walked away.

Always dress for the occasion. Know what suits the environment you are going into. If you have an outfit, hairstyle, or makeup look that consistently makes you look amazing, lean into it.

And if there is a feature of you that stands out; maybe your eyes, legs, or smile; highlight it. Play to your strengths.

But here is the real secret: Confidence. It is what seals everything. You can look like a million dollars, but without confidence, people won’t feel your presence.

Stop waiting for validation from others. Be obsessed with yourself. When you move like you belong, people respond to that energy.

Confidence is attractive, and it sets the tone for how people treat you. When you stop feeling invisible to yourself, the world starts noticing you too.

47. Not Knowing How To Dress For Your Body

Knowing how to dress according to your body type is the foundation of good style. It is the first thing you should learn before buying any clothes.

Without it, you will end up with pieces that don’t flatter you and create wardrobe clutter.

If you want to elevate your style, whether you are tall, slim, or short and chubby, here is a cheat sheet you should follow:

Forget labels like pear, apple, hourglass. The easiest way to dress well is to balance your proportions.

Step 1: Look in the mirror and ask one question

Where do I carry more visual weight — top or bottom?

  • If your upper body looks heavier (broad shoulders, bigger bust, thick arms): Your goal is to soften the top and add interest to the bottom.
  • Wear V-necks, wrap tops, open necklines
  • Choose darker, simple tops
  • Add volume below: wide-leg pants, flared skirts, pleated trousers
  • If your lower body looks heavier (hips, thighs, bum): Your goal is to draw attention upward.
  • Wear brighter or structured tops
  • Add ruffles, puff sleeves, boat necks
  • Keep bottoms simple, darker, and well-fitted.

Step 2: Define your waist (even if it is subtle)

  • Outfits instantly look better when there is some waist definition.
  • Choose high-waisted bottoms
  • Use belts lightly
  • Go for wrap dresses, tailored blazers, or fitted tops.

Step 3: Fit matters more than style

  • Even basic clothes look expensive when they fit properly.
  • Avoid clothes that pull, gape, or hang shapelessly
  • Tailoring is a cheat code, even small adjustments change everything.

Step 4: Build around what you love about your body

  • Instead of hiding, highlight:
  • Nice shoulders → off-shoulder or strap details
  • Long legs → high-waisted shorts or skirts
  • Small waist → bodycon dresses

Step 5: Repeat what works

  • When an outfit makes you feel confident and gets compliments, take note. That is your formula. Stick to it and tweak slowly.

48. Poor Posture

Good posture doesn’t just make you look taller and more confident, it also helps prevent back and neck pain.

To start improving your posture, do a couple of simple exercises every day.

First, stand up straight and place your hands behind your back, stretching them out as far as you can. Hold this position for 20 seconds, then release.

The next exercise is a game changer: wall angels.

Stand with your back against a wall, making sure your shoulder blades, elbows, and the back of your palms are touching it.

Slowly lift your hands up and bring them back down, keeping your elbows and hands against the wall. Do about 15 reps. It is harder than it looks, but the consistency is worth it.

Beyond just exercises, be mindful of your posture throughout the day. Avoid slouching when sitting or standing.

Strengthening your upper back and core with exercises like planks, reverse flys, and seated rows will provide long-term support.

And don’t forget to take breaks from sitting, stand up, stretch, or walk around every 30–60 minutes.

49. Always Looking Tired Even When You Are Not

If you often look tired even when you are not, there are simple facial techniques that can help lift and refresh your face.

Start by turning your head to one side, lifting your chin, and puckering your lips as if you are trying to kiss the sky.

Hold this for 30 seconds, then switch to the other side. This helps tone your neck, jawline, and lower face.

Next, apply a lightweight facial oil to your chin. Bend your index fingers and use them to gently massage from your chin upward toward your neck.

Then move along your cheekbones and back down to your jawline. This massage lifts and sculpts your face while boosting circulation, helping your skin look refreshed and awake.

You don’t need Botox for everything.

50. Feeling Like Nothing Looks Good On You

Feeling like nothing looks good on you can be frustrating, but it is more common than you think.

The first step is to understand your body and style. Learn what cuts, shapes, and colors flatter you.

Try experimenting with different silhouettes until you find what makes you feel good.

Next, focus on well-fitting basics. Clothes that fit your body properly instantly make you look more put-together.

Avoid pieces that are too tight or too baggy, they rarely feel flattering.

A helpful trick is the “fitted-baggy rule”: if your top is fitted, go for baggy bottoms, and if your top is loose, opt for a more fitted bottom.

This keeps your outfit balanced and stylish.

Also, invest in a few statement pieces you love. A bold accessory, a structured jacket, or a pair of shoes, anything that can level up your outfit.

Finally, remember that confidence sells any outfit. Stand tall, own your look, and don’t compare yourself to others. Sometimes it is less about the clothes and more about how you wear them.
