In our fast-paced and demanding world, it’s easy to neglect self care. We often prioritize work, family, and other responsibilities, leaving little time for ourselves. However, self-care is not a luxury but a necessity for our overall health and happiness. Taking care of yourself is not selfish; it’s an essential part of maintaining a balanced and fulfilling life.
This 30 day self care challenge encompasses a wide range of activities that will nurture self love and nourish your mind, body, and soul. It can be as simple as taking a relaxing bath, reading a book, or going for a walk in nature. By making self-care a priority, you are acknowledging your worth and giving yourself permission to prioritize your own needs.
What is a self-care challenge?
A self-care challenge is a structured program designed to help you prioritize self-care in your daily life. It typically involves committing to a specific set of self-care activities for a certain period, such as 7 days, 21 days or even 30 days.
The goal is to cultivate a habit of self-care and experience the benefits it brings.
By participating in a self-care challenge, you are not only carving out time for yourself but also practising self care in your relationships. When we take care of ourselves, we show up better for the people in our lives, we tend to be less irritable and more patient and we are able to rest in our feminine energy.
Self-care challenge ideas for each day
Embarking on a 30-day self-care challenge can be an exciting and transformative journey. Here are some ideas to inspire your daily self-care activities:
Day 1: Morning meditation
Start your challenge by dedicating a few minutes each morning to quiet your mind and set positive intentions for the day ahead. Find a comfortable space, close your eyes, and focus on your breath. Find times in your day to practise a 5 minute meditation if you are short on time.
Day 2: Pamper yourself with a self care bath
Treat yourself to a spa-like experience at home. Take a long luxurious self care bath with scented candles, indulge in a face mask, and give yourself a relaxing massage with aromatic oils.
Day 3: Social media detox
Disconnect from technology for the day and enjoy some screen-free time. Engage in activities that don’t involve screens, such as reading a book, writing in a journal, or spending time in nature.
Day 4: Take up some creative hobbies
Step out of your comfort zone and explore a new hobby or activity. Sign up for a painting class, try your hand at gardening, or learn a musical instrument. This is a chance to connect to your inner child, what did you love to do as a child? Reconnect with those hobbies again.
Day 5: Practice gratitude
Create a gratitude journal and write down three things you are grateful for each day. Cultivating an attitude of gratitude can shift your perspective and bring more positivity into your life.
Day 6: Connect with loved ones
Dedicate quality time to connect with your loved ones. Arrange a coffee date with a friend, have a heartfelt conversation with a family member, or plan a fun activity together. Have fun!
Day 7: Write in your journal
Brain dump your thoughts and feelings in your journal, you will feel a whole lot better when those feelings are expressed, almost like a weight has been lifted!
Day 8: Move your body
Feeling depressed can make you want to stay in bed all day, but it is counterproductive and will only make you feel more depressed. Your body wants to move and is designed to move, so go for a run, dance to some music, or go to a gym class.
Day 9: Read a chapter of a book
Reading is one of my favourite mindful activity, I love it so much because whenever I read I feel a lot calmer and in the present. Reading can help fight depression and anxiety and also can boost your confidence.
Day 10: Repeat affirmations out loud
Give yourself a boost of confidence by practising some positive self talk. We can often be our own worst critics, offering compassion and kindness to others and showing little appreciation for ourselves. Try giving yourself a pep talk in front of a mirror.
Day 11: Catchup on TV shows
You’ve been working all day it’s time to reward yourself babe. Catch up with your favourite TV shows, I personally love a good chick flix for a girls night in, binge if you have to and grab some popcorn while you’re at it!
Day 12: Take yourself out on a solo date
I love this one! If you want to feel amazing about yourself and romanticize your life, plan a solo date, this is for my single and coupled up girlies out there. Need some ideas on want to do? Don’t worry I got you, check out these fun solo date night ideas.
Day 13: Plan and prep your meals
Are you guilty of eating unhealthy junk food and ordering takeout because the idea of cooking after a stressful long day sounds exhausting? The best thing to do is to come up with a menu each week of 2-3 meals and make them for the week, it saves up so much time and $$$!
Day 14: Tidy up your home
Create a cleaning schedule that works for you. Maybe you focus on one room today, dust off the surfaces every other day and you declutter your entire home once a month. The point is you get a little bit of your chores done everyday without feeling overwhelmed on the weekend.
Day 15: Drink water
It should go without saying and you probably hear this all the time when you ask for advice on what to do with your skin, why you feel tired all the time or what to do about your constant headaches? The proof is in the pudding, drink water! This cute 2L bottle is great motivation!
Day 16: Set personal goals
There are different areas of life to set goals for self care. To live a more balanced and satisfying life, I highly recommend looking at the areas you would like to pour into as well as determine what you actually want your life to look like.
Day 17: Stretch for 15 minutes
Try out some yoga poses or just a basic everyday stretch to release tension. When you work at a desk job or are feeling overworked, you are more like to get tension on your shoulders. Fun fact: this constant tension in your shoulders is actually one of the signs that you are in your masculine.
Day 18: Do your skin care routine
Make your skincare routine fun by trying new skincare products, good skin happens when you actually make effort so stop sleeping on your skin care routine. Put on that face mask, exfoliate with BHA/AHAs and don’t forget to moisturise and apply sunscreen!
Day 19: Treat yourself to a gift
I don’t know about you but I love receiving gifts, it’s one my top love languages. There’s nothing like receiving gifts well packaged from the mail, even though you know the contents of the package, it still feels special and it catches me off guard every time!
Day 20: Book your beauty appointments
If you are having a bad day and feeling bad about your self get your hair done and I promise you, you will feel a lot better. Taking care of your self from head to toe can help you glow up overnight! So book the mani pedi, facials, lash appointment, you deserve it.
Day 21: Create a vision board
Vision boards aren’t just meant to created with your New Years’ resolution, heck I just created mine again right before fall. I like to update my vision board so I can be more laser focused towards my goals before the year runs out, especially the goals that I haven’t manifested yet.
Day 22: Random acts of kindness
Spreading kindness instantly makes you feel good about yourself. Whether it’s a smile, donation, hug or helping someone with their heavy bags, it’s best to take the attention off of yourself for a moment to see things from another perspective. By doing so, you become more appreciative of your own life.
Day 23: Go for a hot girl walk
I’m sure you’ve heard about this TikTok trend, but do you know that the actual benefits of the hot girl walk? The hot girl trend isn’t just about physical fitness but also mental fitness too, it isn’t necessarily about how you look while walking but how much better you will feel after walking in nature.
Day 24: Watch funny videos
Find a reason to laugh. Life can be tough sometimes but humour is a way to not take yourself so seriously. Always remember that whatever you are going through, there’s always someone who has it way worse! So watch some funny videos or some memes to help lighten your mood.
Day 25: Get dolled up and take pictures
Do this if you need a reason to feel good about yourself. Get dressed up in a really nice outfit, get your pictures taken professionally. Taking beautiful pictures of yourself is an act of self care, these pictures will serve as a visual affirmation for how beautiful you really are. This does wonders for your self image.
Day 26: Practise mindfulness
Most people live life on autopilot, this can create a feeling of disconnection from self. You can practise being more conscious and aware of your actions, thoughts and feelings during the day. This article will give you extra tips on how you can practice mindfulness activities such eating or walking.
Day 27: Make a budget
Living within your means is also an act of self care. As much as I love to spend and I love to treat myself from time to time, I still understand that I need to be mindful of how I spend and where my money goes each month.
I like to use Emma app to track my spending and pay myself first so I have no excuse not to have savings, every little counts!
Day 28: Listen to an empowering playlist or podcast
Do you have an empowering song that you listen to when you feel sad? Find one! Because this will be your go to when life gets hard and you just need something to give you a burst of energy. Make a self love playlist and have fun with it or you could listen to Girl You Are Magic here.
Day 29: Write yourself a love letter
This is one of my faves for any self love self care challenge that I do. Write a letter as your future self talking to your current self. This letter must be encouraging, supportive and kind. Imagine that you’ve already accomplished everything you’ve been hoping for.
Read this letter whenever you feel discouraged.
Day 30: Go to bed early
Now all you need to do is go to bed early. I know its not that simple which is why I have a wind down night time self care routine to help make going to bed early a whole lot easier! I have been doing this routine and have been reaping the benefits of waking up at 5am.
You have come to the end of this self care challenge! But it doesn’t have to stop here, you could do another self love challenge. Try to continue with these self care habits, chances are you already feel good about yourself and this can be your new normal if you stick with it.
